Crying is not cowardice but bravery to recognize pain and letting it slip away with the tears.

HANG ON

A smile cannot hide one's brokenness
Hurting one, thine eyes do not lie
Be strong for it will come to pass

Remember that Jesus was a carpenter
He can fix the mess
With one touch, healing comes

Pretend not
Let acceptance stand
Let time reveal life's grand

LESS POSTS in 2015

Just a few days more, my workload will surge therefore I may not have time anymore to post here BUT I'll try my very best to come up with a weekly entry.

As I am fond of poems, I do not need so much time composing one because I write from the heart :-) where the words just flow. I have to have it (inspiration) to write poems which hardly has a place in me when my mind is filled with deadlines and work-related concerns.

How tight my schedule will be, I will not miss the significant ones, God, people and enough rest :-)
I need wisdom for time management. I will just chew what I can swallow. God bless us all this coming 2015 and let us take one step at a time.

Did you notice that 2015's color of the year, Marsala, is of the shade of my favorite color, Maroon.?This could be my year then :-) Prepare for a blast.

One way of loving my neighbor is by not writing about anything that my reader will not be blessed after going through my article. Not that I am pleasing man but there is a proper forum for everything. My blog is simply not an appropriate outlet for some dramas that are easily overcame because of Jesus. What I must emphasize in my posts are the wondrous works of the Lord whether we won trophies together or He carried me along to surpass a test in life.

Luke 6:45

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good;
and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart[a] brings forth evil.
 For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

That passage of the Bible reminds me to be cautious of what I feed my mind and heart because it shall overflow in my speech and deed. What I must write about or speak of are things which bring healing to the reader/hearer thereof.

Colossians 4:6

Let your speech always be with grace,
seasoned with salt,
that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

I edit my posts here after a while because I know that some of my entries reflect the ugly condition of my heart which must first be fixed with God before airing it to the public. Human I am, I have the tendency to publish my thoughts right away without consideration of their impact to those who encounter them. It is one aspect of me that I am sharpening (self-control). I must think and pray first before reacting/blogging :-)

Praise God that He confronts me to revise my blog post if it does not sound right.

raise your hands in surrender and praise

Two of my great friends lost their babies this month.

Last October, Mayang and her hubby Kevin were here in Gensan for a visit. After the wedding of a friend, we went to the house of Mayang's parents for a simple high school get together and there we were joking about her getting pregnant anytime soon. She happily informed me last November that God answered our prayers regarding conception however early this month, she texted me for a specific prayer for comfort because the baby lost his/her heartbeat. :'-(

I went to Iloilo December 2013 to attend his wedding. His wife is due to deliver the baby anytime next week. I was as excited  too for them and I asked what they would name the baby boy, kuya said "El Nathan Rex" or Nate for short. El means God while Nathan means gift. Then a few days ago :-( I was informed that they lost the baby.

Adding insult to the injury, my dorm mate in Casiana Dorm (2007-2012)  died on the stop last December 19, 2014 due to a vehicular accident somewhere in Kipot, Banga-Surallah. I tracked the same road on that same day in attending a Christmas party in Surallah. Her mom and other companions in the vehicle also died. That was really tragic.

Life indeed is short and for some (the fetus)-- they have not even seen the light yet but they right away joined their Creator. May God's comfort and restoration be upon my friends and their families in times such as this.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Everything Has Its Time

1 To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

2 A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is planted;

3 A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;

4 A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;

5 A time to cast away stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;

7 A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;

8 A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace.

GOD IS FOR ALL SEASONS

Nothing is certain in life but God and His love for us
When we are blissful, we have Him to thank to
When we walk through the valley, once we look back, we'll only see His footprints

Friends and family bring invaluable support to us
Their words and prayers bridge comfort to our weary souls
Their availability to give a tight hug to the grieving proves God feels our brokenness

Let the tears flow and let God dry our eyes and cheeks
Let Him bind and heal our wounds
Let time tell that He is faithful to answer our desperate calls

Life verse: John 15:12

When Christ was born, God was with us
Before He died, He destroyed the temple
Do you know why?
He wants to dwell in us

Let this celebration remind us to cleanse our hearts
that He may be comfortable in His chosen home
If He is still outside the door of your soul
Let Him come in that your spirit may live with Him forevermore

John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

His coming to the world gave us reason to strive for a purposeful life
He died that we may live a life that is free from sin
He overcame the world and by Him we can do the same
We would not be perfect now but we will be someday in our glorious union with Him

HIS RESURRECTION IS OUR HOPE THAT THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH.

All the favors, grace, mercy, love and blessings i received from God are as many as the stars and the sand but there is one gift I treasure the most, the fact that He made Himself known to me. I could not imagine how my life had been if I did not meet Him when I was 18. Do not get me wrong, I heard of God and Jesus since I knew how to talk but it remained just a "knowledge" such us I knew who is the president of USA for years. I grew up not ignorant of the laws and the stories in the Bible just as I as knew what are history and the current events. Somehow, they have influenced my disposition in life. I have to be good because it was the right thing to do but it was not the driving force in me.

By being good, I was obedient to my parents, a responsible student and sibling, into different involvements that facilitates social responsibility BUT i had tantrums too as a typical teenager/youth.
I care about my friends and I love my neighbors. I had a thankful heart and compassion for others because that's what my parents taught me.

During 1st year college, I tried my best to be at the chapel EVERYDAY which caused me to gain friends among the church people (priests and altar boys), we called each other as "kaberks" and we do high fives wherever and whenever we meet inside and outside the church. I explored every church activity that would make me more religious. I had opportunities to dig deeper into the doctrines of my "born" denomination--I've asked about confession, communion, bells, purgatory and etc and the priests consistently answered me that all those were observed because of tradition.

Yes, I became religious over the year but nothing has change in my person. I praise God and say curse with the same mouth. I joined Youth For Christ in school so that I have a body of students to fellowship to and they were all like me, "we are good and religious people". At one point, I became a member of TAWILI which is a charismatic group of the Roman Catholic sect and a regular attendee of KERYGMA headed by Bo Sanchez. I bought all books authored by Bo Sanchez and made them as my official gifts to my friends. That year made me a super Catholic where I know every line to answer back during mass and I can sing very well those few and repeatedly sang songs. Not to miss mentioning that I had bruises in joining the way of the cross procession where we had to walk half kilometer from one station to the next and to kneel down whenever we recite the novenas. I'd say that I did my all to be a devoted Catholic. Despite being one, I explored more of the world too, I tasted hard drinks, went to discos, and even smoked that destroyed my nostrils instantly. I became thirsty too of popularity that is why I actively joined various extra-curricular activities. I won declamation contests, I was a debater representing my batch, an ace to various ball games specially volleyball (swimming is not a ball game but I am best at it too--school level), never left out in crayons, paints and pastels and who would not recruit me for singing, dancing, acting and hosting. Those involvements can be expected from an exploring Jack of All Trades like me.

Before college, I was never in the front row but always behind the shadows of others. My first year in college as they say was my "time to shine" and it happened. A prime year of my life where most people in the campus know me though I was only a first year student. My seniors expected me to be the president when i reach 4th year because of my active involvement in everything without compromising my studies.

HOWEVER, all of their expectations did not materialized because the twist in my life came forth. An event which caused my world to turn upside down and changed the course of my life 180 degrees.

Summer of 2008, I turned 18 and my family's gift to me was Rick Warren's book, Purpose Driven life. After finishing the book, I did a lot of thinking as to what was my purpose in living and I got curious to experience intimacy with the Lord. My ates in YFC could not expound well the idea of Christ in us whether it could be literally felt.

The location of the ATM where i withdraw my allowance was next to Calvary Chapel Bible Fellowship of Iloilo wherein whenever I get my money, I pass by the church and their posted schedule for bible study caught my eye. One of my kaberks-priest was fond of mentioning bible verses in his sermons and that made him my favorite amongst the rest. There was a time when he apologized to us because he sounded like a "protestant preacher" and only then I had an idea that protestant churches are taught like that "flooded with bible verses".   My interest to attend a bible study grew until I had the courage to join CCBF one night. I love their style, intelligent way of studying the bible, verse by verse, book by book, and the "family-like" ambiance among the members. I felt welcome, cared for and loved much which made me stay in the fellowship. For months I attended every church service they have except on Sundays where I still went to the RC mass.

I could not exactly recall the date of my first Sunday at CCBF but one thing for sure there was an occasion, there was food (potluck). Hehe pagkain lang pala ang katapat ko noon. Then I continued attending, my eyes was opened to the truth and my life continued to transform.

Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

For the rest of my life, I'll cherish the fact that God drawn me to Him and He made me see His true for me, for all of us. I always get teary when I remember how He changed my life, my person, my future,  my everything that nothing could lure me away from it, not success, not family,nothing.

With my growing knowledge of His word and constant fellowship, I learned to pray and I develop genuine love for God and for others. Yes, I was almost disowned by my family and suffered so much persecution from them and from the others but the TRUTH had been my stronghold to keep on. It did not matter to me that I was branded "KJ" because i no longer drink, go to disco, read pocketbooks, laugh at green jokes and entertain gossips. My faith in Him was tested by taking away all that I used to value above Him, my family, friends and studies. My family got mad at me that no one bothered to reply to my sms and they ignored answering my calls, they just sent me my allowance (thankful for that one though) and when I went home for vacations, it is as if I'm invisible. I was the talk of the town in our clan and neighborhood. I was not remiss in my studies but my professor summoned me as to why my last year's 1.75 went down as low as 2.75. My friends keep quiet whenever I step in the classroom and I could not relate much anymore to them because I was busy acquainting myself of Christian songs and had no time to listen to secular songs. Somehow I was branded as "lost".

I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
I have decided to follow Jesus;
No turning back, no turning back.

Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
Though I may wonder, I still will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.

The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
The world behind me, the cross before me;
No turning back, no turning back.

Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
Though none go with me, still I will follow;
No turning back, no turning back.

Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
Will you decide now to follow Jesus?
No turning back, no turning back.

from wikipedia:

"I Have Decided to Follow Jesus" is a Christian hymn originating from India.

The lyrics are based on the last words of a man in Assam, north-east India, who along with his family was converted to Christianity in the middle of the 19th century through the efforts of a Welsh missionary. Called to renounce his faith by the village chief, the convert declared, "I have decided to follow Jesus." In response to threats to his family, he continued, "Though no one joins me, still I will follow." His wife was killed, and he was executed while singing, "The cross before me, the world behind me." This display of faith is reported to have led to the conversion of the chief and others in the village.[1]

The formation of these words into a hymn is attributed to the Indian missionary Sadhu Sundar Singh.[2] The melody is also Indian, and entitled "Assam" after the region where the text originated.[3] The fierce opposition is possible as various tribes in that area were formerly renowned for head-hunting.[4]

An American hymn editor, William Jensen Reynolds, composed an arrangement which was included in the 1959 Assembly Songbook. His version became a regular feature ofBilly Graham's evangelistic meetings in America and elsewhere, spreading its popularity.[5]

Due to the lyrics' explicit focus on the believer's own commitment, the hymn is cited as a prime example of decision theology, emphasising the human response rather than the action of God in giving faith.[6] This has led to its exclusion from some hymnals.[6] A Lutheran writer noted, "It definitely has a different meaning when we sing it than it did for the person who composed it."[7]

When I decided to commit myself in following Jesus for the rest of my life, I knew the world would not be kind to me but life is harder if I live through it without or apart from Him.

John 16:33

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace.
 In the world you will[a] have tribulation; but be of good cheer,
I have overcome the world.”

Life has never been the same for me and I do not want to go back to where I was before. When I was new in my walk, my favorite word was WOW. I was always amazed to behold each day His wondrous works in me and the world around me. All the best that I had prior to meeting Christ in a personal level were not set aside but were utilized for His greater glory and to bless others. I remained active in various extra-curricular activities but they were already called ministries. I still sing, act, dance, teach, and draw but all in church setting and for the Lord's work. We did outreaches in campuses, distributed gospel tracks in public places specially in plazas, conducted children Sunday school in slum areas and many other ministries. Of course, being part of the core group, we are also active in keeping the church orderly and so we are together in cleaning, preparing the program, updating the bulletin board and other concerns in running a church. My life had never been meaningful until I learned how the Lord could make use of my life for His works.

Though the start of my Christian journey was bombarded with trials, by His grace I was able to firmly withstood them all. And the way He restored everything was amazing. My relationship with my family got stronger. They said "it does not matter anymore that my church change because my character and attitude also changed"-- (bumait daw ako, oo naman hehe thanks). I became a Dean's lister during my 3rd year and almost been one on my last year in college. Then my friends multiplied and the existing ones became deeper.

To love Christ is like any relationship where knowing each other is an essential part of it. In reading and studying the Bible i understood more His thoughts, His great love for us and I learned how I can love Him back. Over the years, I have proven that only Him I can run to when all else fail and only Him who can love me unconditionally. The ONLY and ULTIMATE answer to all empty pursuits, pains, insecurities and doubts in life is JESUS.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;

6 In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct[a] your paths.

It is different to do all things for the Lord and to offer our life to Him. I obey my parents, I serve others, I forgive those who offend me, I am friendly, I try to be kind in words and in deed, I study and work well, I take care of myself, I love others, and I strive to do all the right things FOR THE LORD. When I became a true believer that is the only time I fully understood Proverbs 3:5-6--what it is like to trust Him and acknowledge Him in EVERYTHING.

There is a big difference to say that "I know God" from saying that "I am working to know God with all my heart and soul ". To love Him more each day because He first loved us is a lifetime commitment. The kind of love that not everyone understands because they missed the miracle He did on the cross.

Now that I am in the new chapter of my life, starting a new year literally, I beg God to help me to be consistent and to mature more in my christian walk. I hope that my love for Him will never grow cold.  I want to have the courage to welcome life's testings and boldly declare thereafter  "His grace is sufficient.". May He continue to use me for the furtherance of His kingdom, that many will be saved because I shared the gospel to them and many will be moved to press on in their christian journey considering me as their inspiration. They call it redemptive life testimony. My greatest desires are the same: for me to die strong in faith and salvation for all. May my family and friends receive Jesus as their Savior and King and that they will enjoy God's goodness and faithfulness in their lifetime and that they grab every opportunity to serve and  cause to smile a humble and loving King.

2 Corinthians 12:9

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you,
for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”
 Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities,
that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Though I have Christ in me, it does not mean that I am flawless because our transformation to be like Him is a lifetime process. I still stumble and fall but I no longer run after sin. Since I became a true Christian, I still sin but this time, I exert effort to run away from sin.

After some reflection, I really wanted to say sorry to someone because I was used as a form of "temptation" to challenge their relationship (unintentionally). I've been a burden to said person, I acted childish for blocking calls from his end (I swore not to do it ever again), for ignoring him and walking away because I did not extend my patience to its last mile  and for shooing him away thrice without explaining well why I did so (only to realize that I could not bear the thought of losing him that is why I always say sorry[thrice]).

It is now moot and academic because the bond was cut.
I can but apply the good ones and work on not to do anymore the bad ones so that I will not be a burden again to anybody with my off attitude before. The experience would be useless if it does not change me to be a better person.

Special realizations from said reflection:
1. I can bear his absence because Christ in me has always been more than enough and in my weakness, His grace is sufficient.
2. Aside from extending forgiveness to others, I've forgiven myself for my contributory fault.
3. Memories are not easy to forget but they fade in time as new ones replace them.
4. Prayer helps but there are practical things that may quicken the process such us changing of cellular phone tones, investing in other relationships, enhancing other skills (music) and PRINTING A PICTURE OF A HANDSOME FACE, PUT IN A FRAME AND PLACE IT ON TOP OF MY WORKING TABLE----------------------> joke----but i am interested of trying---hahahaha
Whose face would fit such purpose? I will search for it.

                                     would you not smile if you see this picture of Ronan? :-P

PASKO sa Gensan Entry Nos. 5 and 6

this one is cool but entry number 4 yesterday was better

the finale of this one was really BIG!

hate sin but not the sinner

On January, my review on Real Estate Broker's Licensure Exam will start and it will run til the end of February. It sounds taxing but i hope i can manage to balance my time at work, special lectures at 4th coy, board meeting with UPAA and preparation for the exam that is why i will start reading this December. I bought a reviewer which is less than 300 pages. If I'll be diligent, I can finish it this week :-) Maybe it would be best if I will go anywhere but near my bed otherwise i will hug my pillows the whole day. Just like back in law school, a fastfood chain branch shall be my study hall.

In my daily devotion, i prefer to read through the Bible and personally grasp what God has for me for the day and I try to avoid getting just influenced by someone else's  reflection. However, in every rule there is an exception and so I bought this year-long devotional book by one of my favorite authors, Harold Sala.

Since it is new and it has all the dates in the calendar, I was curious to check on what was written on my birthday. What a timely issue to deal to now. I love to answer the question/title with a resounding YES, however, I admit that I want to dismiss every single thing that would remind me of what i went through. I do not hate any person but what i experienced should never be done to anyone. How distasteful it was.
According to the article, healing is a process which i agree with 100%. I could forgive any offense against me as Christ forgives absolutely and without qualification.

ONE PIECE

if you really love her, go pursue that lady
all you need is the approval of God-daddy
if you were meant to be
all the roads would lead to her way

if you found her, take her by the hand
but do not make promises that you could not keep
above all, do not make her a fool
because she already is in giving you a chance despite all odds

if you break her heart
she will forgive you and she will be more careful next time
if it is her first time to fall and break
 the cut is surely deep

how do you take care of her then?
consider her your mother or sister
accord her with utmost respect and adoration
take heed of the whispers from heaven

lovely lady, guard your heart from the sweet words of the lad
look not only on his eyes but on his inner intentions too
do not fall for the uncertain
always remember, a relationship is not gambling

there is a way of knowing if he loves the Lord
listen to his talk, observe his walk
if he submits to our gracious God
he will cherish you as God has designed

as long as there is air to breathe, do not lose heart
life is about Jesus who loves us perfectly
there is no hole in our lives that He could not fill
and no broken thing He could not make whole again

to our caring God
pardon us for anything that breaks Your heart
Please help us to keep ourselves wholly devoted to You
and thank You for keeping us ONE PIECE

fall and break : rise and make

the ooh and wow

i admit that i am a certified addict of watching FIREWORKS display.
i took this video an hour ago at Oval Plaza. it is my first time to watch one this close and i love it.  we (with my tita Angge) walked to the place feeling a bit heavy inside but after the show, we had that unfading smiles and laughs.

nakakagaan talaga ng loob itong fireworks :-) parang halo-halo hehe

i believe that in heaven, we would all be speechless because of its splendor :-)

1 Corinthians 2:9

But as it is written:

“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Just Like

just like the morning dew,
grace is the moist that wets our dry souls
just like the morning breeze that kisses our face,
mercy awakens and cools our sleeping faith

just like a big and tight hug
love warms our freezing hearts
just like a maiden's first kiss
hope lingers and is lasting

just like the shining sun
having Jesus is having a lighted path
just like the twinkling stars above
so is the Father's compassion for us, innumerable

just like the pen i use in signing
my words will put forth influence and worthwhile legacy
just like God's love
by His empowerment, my faith in Him shall never fail

just like halo-halo
all my  experiences (good & bad)  produce a sweet taste of life
just like the poems i write
i hope God will make my life worth noting and sharing

i will never grow tired composing poems :-) thanks be to God for this gift in writing

Another good-read articles

Harold and Darlene Sala's Commentaries had been a great source of wisdom to me these past few years. He and his wife certainly reflect spiritual maturity in all aspects of their life. They are far from being perfect but they model how faithful God is in producing great testimoies from our frail humanity. Their consistency in their chiristian journey simply encourages me to do the same by God's grace and by the empowering of the Holy Spirit.

I follow them online at www.guidelines.org.

It is Christmas season but their site is flooded with articles on marriages. Here are two thereof both by Harold Sala.

THE ORIGINAL PLAN FOR MARRIAGE

For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. Genesis 2:24

Getting married is easy. Staying married is more difficult. Being happily married is life’s greatest challenge. Why? Lots of reasons—unrealistic expectations, selfishness, taking advantage of the other person, our refusal to communicate, to compromise, and to forgive.

Socrates, the Greek philosopher, was once asked by a young man if he should marry. Socrates replied, “You will be sorry no matter which you do.” As Gary Smalley said, “The most difficult years of marriage are those following the wedding.” Getting married is an event but staying married is an achievement, in some cases the crowning achievement of a person’s life.

Why the irresistible attraction to a member of the opposite sex, something that is physical and emotional, yet so challenging and difficult when it comes to living in harmony?

I don’t know about you, but I have found that when I buy something, usually mechanical, and it doesn’t work right, I ask myself, “What did I do with the instruction booklet that came with this?” Then I dig it out and read the manual, the how-to-do-it booklet that came with the product.

A lot can be gained when it comes to understanding the purpose of marriage by going back to the original owner’s manual and determine why God so designed us that we are drawn to each other. The historic battle of the sexes, believe it or not, is the result of centuries of misunderstanding, of fighting for what you think you deserve.

God did not put within your heart the desire to share your life with someone to make you miserable but rather to fulfill the very purpose for which He created you. Let me explain.

First, may I point out that God didn’t make woman by taking Eve from Adam. Are you ready for this? He created Eve from a substance taken from Adam, which is why Adam, laying eyes on Eve for the first time, exclaimed that she was his own “flesh and bone.” She was a perfect match–same stuff he was made of, a compelling, irresistible attraction, not simply sexual but at a level that meant the emptiness in his life would be filled. There was an immediate union intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and, eventually, physically.

That old English word “helpmeet” used to describe what Eve should do is obsolete, misunderstood, and implies a position of inferiority. To translate, the Hebrew word literally means “helper suitable for him.” Based on how the word is used in other contexts, it means “matching him, beside him, opposite of him.”

Scripture described this complimentary union as “one flesh”—a powerful description of how each find in the other complete fulfillment and union. Reading your Old Testament you will find that the expression “bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh” was used to express a kinship relationship—a reminder that we have common roots and ancestors and, therefore, should live in peace and harmony.

It’s time to declare an end to the battle of the sexes, fly the white flag, break bread and reconnect. Jesus looked upon married couples as one entity—not two people fighting to keep the other from taking advantage, but two unique individuals who compliment each other in such a way that each makes the other a better person and each accomplishes far more because of the positive influence of the other.

As Joe Murray put it: “Marriage should do a duet—when one sings, the other claps.” It’s should not be to think alike but to think together, not to compete but complete, not to endure but to celebrate. It’s not the impossible dream but the weaving together of two lives in a bond that is inseparable. That’s God’s plan and purpose.

WHAT IS A "HELPMEET"?

And the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a companion who will help him.” Genesis 2:18, NLT

Words convey powerful images, and once that image is fixed in your mind, it’s difficult to attach picture or meaning to it. Take, for example, the word, “helper!” Say, a painter’s helper. The helper carries the bags, lays out the paints, cleans the brushes, does the dirty work. OK, a good helper may even do some preliminary sketches for the artist, but let’s face it, the helper is an inferior. OK, both may be artists but there is a pecking order and it is the artist who puts the finishing touches on any palate and signs his name in the corner claiming ownership. Never let it be thought that the helper is an equal.

That’s exactly the mental image you get when you read Genesis 2 and discover that Eve was “a helper suitable for him”—meaning, Adam. OK, it looks like Adam is the boss, and Eve is the—yes, “helper!” And that has been the mentality of men for centuries, described as male chauvinism today.

Want to get married in Papua New Guinea? You can buy your bride. The cost? Fifteen to twenty pigs. It’s still done in the tribal areas where women are considered chattel. And what do the women do in that culture? Three responsibilities: work the garden, do the cooking and cleaning, and have children, which, of course, means she’s available on demand.

But is this what Moses intended us to know of God’s purpose for Eve? May I be so bold as to say, “No way! Not in the least!” “OK,” you may be saying. “You just knocked down centuries of tradition. Tell us what it really means.”

First, notice that God didn’t make man, take a look at him and say, “I think I can do better than that,” making woman on the second try. He made man, saw his loneliness, and saw that something was missing, something tremendously important—someone to whom he could relate, who understood him, and would love and care for him. From flesh and bone taken from Adam, God built a woman (which, incidentally, is a literal translation of what Moses wrote).

Remember she is of the same substance as Adam—neither better nor inferior. Now, if you would, please remember that God is repeatedly called man’s helper, which is a position of honor, not weakness. It is the image of a father helping his son across a difficult ravine, or a mother helping her child learn his letters. God certainly is not on man’s level, and man isn’t equal to God—though some really think they are. As Katharina Penner says: the issue is “not in status and strength, endurance or preparedness for the difficulties of life, but in the fact that a human needs help and that God wants to fulfill that need.”

Adam recognized Eve—as an equal, as part of himself, one who stood alongside him, who would walk hand in hand with him—not as an inferior, a servant to do his bidding.

Forget about the notion that helpers are inferiors—way down on the social scale. God’s intention was this woman whom He created was to complete the male and he, in turn, would cherish her, honor her, and love her with all his heart.

Together they would meet each other’s needs, each possessing what the other lacked, and as “one flesh”—to use the term found five times in the Bible—they would reproduce themselves in a family. God’s intention was that together they would form an indissoluble union, standing against the winds of changing cultural ideas and difficulties.

Marriage is a living relationship, not simply an agreement two people make signing a paper called a marriage license, but a covenant that keeps our world sane.

It is not just a ring but a covenant
To stay faithful and pure to my one and only
Before and after the marriage ceremony

I don't wear any jewelry but last week I was moved to buy a ring :-) I intended to go for a PURITY/CHASTITY ring which is not in any particular form. I do not like it to be eye catching but simple therefore all those with stones were not my options. I love it to be thin too to add to its simplicity but engraving would be difficult. TAKE A LOOK, i end up paying for a wedding ring haha :-) and i have engraved in there "BRIDE OF CHRIST". This ring will remind me never to give myself to any man but my husband and only AFTER marriage. May God give me a pure heart always and keep my body pure until the day my Prince Blessing may validly claim what was preserved to be his exclusively.

Pretty Clothes by Darlene Sala

Is it okay to enjoy pretty clothes? Or is fashion just a frivolous ego trip? Well, let’s see what the Bible says. The apostle Peter gives the following advice to women: "Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight" (1 Peter 3:3-4).
I hope you noticed that Peter didn’t say that women shouldn’t braid their hair or wear gold jewelry or fine clothes—just that their beauty should not be dependent on those things. What counts most, Peter said, is the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit.
In 1960 my husband and I visited Paris for the first time. Now, I had heard that there were prostitutes on the streets of the city, but I was not prepared for the appearance of these women. They were some of the best-dressed in Paris—slender, attractive, with their make- up well done, carrying themselves gracefully. Right then and there, I thought to myself, "If they can keep themselves looking so attractive for such a despicable reason, I must keep myself attractive for my wonderful husband, who loves me so dearly and does everything he can do to make me happy."
A bedraggled, tousled woman came to a Christian leader for advice. "I just can’t figure it out," she said. I’m a faithful wife, a good cook and a good mother, but my husband never looks at me—he never says ‘I love you.’ I don’t understand." The Christian leader thought to herself, "You’re wrong about your husband never looking at you. Actually, he has looked—and he didn’t want to look any further!"
Women, your #1 priority should be to have a gentle and quiet spirit. But don’t forget to make yourself attractive so that your husband can proudly say, "I’d like you to meet my wife."
----------------------------
That's exactly what i am working on recently :-), by God's grace i'll continue maturing in my christian walk and at the same time i'll become more beautiful physically. I like the thought that my boyfriend and husband-to-be is proud walking around with me in the mall or in any other public place. I hope to achieve my target looks by February, just in time for the love month haha
If he could appreciate me when the lights are on, may my lifetime partner still feel blessed with my character even when he loses his sight or in the dark.
BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT

You brush your teeth and your hair,
You spray perfume in your dress and wrist,
You wear a hat and you color your nails, cheeks and lips,
That's how you keep yourself pretty.

Then
You read Thy word and pray to Thee,
You stay pure and compassionate,
You grow in His truth and grace,
That makes you beautiful inside and out.

Your partner-in-life loves to show you around,
But he treasures you more because
You are a girl after God's own heart and
You personify Proverbs 31.
Th February is the month!

Amazing King :-)

pic taken from godandstuff.com

Awesome, that is what You are Lord
Amazing, all were Your creations
Wonderful, You called your own
Blessed, we are because of Your love

You designed the heavens with Your greatness
Every star tells of Your majesty
Lord, what did you make that is not beautiful?
Our eyes, our ears, all of our senses could not miss Your faithfulness

To the ends of the world we want to declare, amazing King
Wonderful, Savior, Holy, Creator God
Merciful, Prince of peace, awesome Lord
Blessed be Your name forevermore

Fill our hearts with gladness,
For we know You made us white as snow
You came down, been one of us, died on the cross and did not leave us orphans
God, why are you mindful of man?

It is because You are the amazing King
Wonderful, Savior, Holy Creator God
Merciful, Prince of peace, awesome Lord
Blessed be Your name forevermore

10 is not perfect

UPDATE: PASTOR MARK's message is already included in Proverbs 18:22 post.

NUMBERS DO HAVE MEANINGS.

7   signifies completion

In Scripture, seven symbolizes completeness or perfection. On the seventh day God rested from his labors and creation is finished (Gn 2:2). Pharaoh in his dream saw seven cattle coming from the Nile (41:2). Samson’s sacred Nazirite locks were braided in seven plaits (Jgs 16:13). Seven devils left Mary of Magdala, signifying the totality of her previous possession by Satan (Lk 8:2); "seven other devils" will enter the purified but vacant life of a person (Mt 12:45). However, on the positive side, there were the seven spirits of God (Rv 3:1). In the seventh year the Hebrew slave was to be freed (Ex 21:2), having completed his time of captivity and service. Every seventh year was a sabbatical year (Lv 25:4). Seven times seven reiterates the sense of completeness. In the Year of Jubilee (at the completion of 7 x 7 years = the 50th year), all land is freed and returns to the original owners (Lv 25:10). Pentecost, the Feast of Weeks, is seven times seven days after Passover. "Seventy," which is literally "sevens" in Hebrew, strengthens the concept of perfection. There are 70 elders (Ex 24:1) in Israel. Israel was exiled to Babylon for 70 years (Jer 25:12) to complete its punishment. "Seventy times seven" (Mt 18:22) reiterates this still further. The Lord was not giving Peter a mathematical number of times that he should forgive another person, but rather was insisting on limitless forgiveness for a brother’s sin.  Excerpt from http://www.biblewheel.com/Topics/Seven_Meaning.php

8   marks a new beginning

Circumcision: The Sign of God's Covenant

This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
Genesis 17:10f
The historic Christian Church has traditionally associated the Number 8 with the entrance into the Covenant of God. This understanding comes from God Himself who commanded Circumcision - the Sign of the Covenant - to be performed on the Eighth Day. God used the same language - אות ברית (Ot B'rit, Sign of the Covenant) - when He gave the Rainbow (Genesis 9.13):
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
Genesis 17:10f
The word "rainbow" (קשת, qeshet) used in this verse sums to the Number 800 which also is the value of the Greek words "Lord" and "Faith." It also is the value of the final letter of the Greek alphabet, Omega (cf. Eight and the Resurrection below). This is the essence of Faith - trusting in the Lord who will see us through to the very end, signified by Omega. This lifts us above our present state to behold our Shepherd who is Lord above all. Excerpt from http://www.biblewheel.com/Topics/Seven_Meaning.php

33 is my favorite number

I was a big fan of Victor Pablo that whichever team he belonged in PBA, it gained my undying support :-) His teams then were Shell and Talk'n Text.

When I became a Christian, my favorite number bore a greater meaning. Thirty-three was Jesus' age when He died on the cross :-)

I always knew that I should guard my heart and i do not know why i let the feeling broke in. It only proves that I am human. It was my fault. I let my guard down. May God help me to do it right, next time :-)

Now that i have learned my lesson
It would be foolish to stumble the second time over the same thing
The rejection and shame i felt were nothing compared to the sweet promise i claim

I fell but i will rise strong
With God's grace under my wings
I can guard my heart from feign affections

This God-coated love of mine
I've attempted to share it but it was disregarded
Lord, please give me wisdom to do it right next time
